Everything to know about Mel's Unlimited Plan

Mel is the easiest way to unsubscribe from postal mail. Members of the Unlimited Plan can send photos of any unwanted mail to the service, and Mel will try its best to have the member removed from the sender's mailing list. There is no limit to the number of addresses or recipients, as long as all requests come from one phone number.

Prior Residents

While Mel will make every effort to have prior residents removed from mailing lists, this isn't always possible. Some senders—especially large banks, insurance companies, airlines, and healthcare providers—have policies that require the recipient themselves make any changes to their communication preferences.

Mel has spent hours on the phone with these companies explaining that the recipient no longer lives at the address, but in the end the agents on the phone have no ability to help.

The best advice Mel can give for this type of mail is to write Not at this address on the mailer and put it back in your mailbox. If your mail carrier does not take it back, you can instead drop the unwanted mail back into a blue Collection Box receptacle.

LLCs and other business mail

If you've registered an LLC to your personal address, this information has likely been posted publicly on directories like ZoomInfo, Moody’s, Dun & Bradstreet, Bizapedia, Data Axle, and AllBiz. It's also been shared with the credit bureaus, allowing credit card companies to send pre-screened offers. While consumers can opt-out of pre-screened offers, Mel is unaware of such a mechanism for LLCs.

If you register a business to your home address, you will receive unsolicited mail to your LLC.

When you request to unsubscribe from postal mail addressed to an LLC, Mel will attempt to contact the sender and have you removed from the mailing list. However, results cannot be guaranteed because there are not the same level of protections on the business side as compared to consumers.

Multiple addresses

If you have a second home or pied-à-terre, all mail to this second address is covered as part of the Unlimited plan. A new address as a result of moving is covered under all plans.
